Additives - We have a constant programme of minimising the use of additives and our policy is to use natural materials wherever possible. We have been steadily reducing salt since 2002 and we are leaders in consumer engagement on the healthy eating agenda.
Fat - Northern Foods is making good progress towards the removal of hydrogenated vegetable oils from its key branded products.
Genetically Modified (GM) food - We source only non-genetically modified ingredients for all the products we manufacture.
Labelling - Ensuring that we support the consumer's ability to make informed choices is the driver behind our approach to labelling.
Organic food - We are exploring the possibilities for increasing organic production to support demand.
Palm Oil - Since January 2006 we have been members of the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO). From January 2010 all of Northern's palm oil has been sourced from sustainable supplies.
Salt - We continue our work to support the FSA's target of reducing consumer salt intake to 6g per day by 2010.
