Phunky Foods
Phunky Foods deliver a weekly 2 hour programme to primary school children, aged 5 to 11, on leading a healthy balanced lifestyle.
In 2009/10 more than 650 schools are involved in this programme and research has proven that the programme is effective in tackling health and food issues, especially obesity.
Northern Foods are the founder sponsor for Phunky Foods and have been involved in the programme for 4 years. During 2009, 8 Northern Food sites have partnered with over 50 local primary schools which were selected by the employees at each site.
Phunky Foods delivered a training day for the teachers at each factory during the summer term and these teachers are now delivering the programme into their schools. Results have seen children challenging the teachers and parents about what they eat and how they exercise. A great result!
Phunky Foods are actively involved in the Government sponsored Change4life programme, running over 1500 community days across England.
