Northern Foods is proud to sponsor the 2010 Business in the Community (BITC) Rural Action Award.
Supported by the Commission for Rural Communities, the Northern Foods Rural Action Award is for companies that are addressing issues faced by rural communities, and who are helping to create and maintain a vibrant and sustainable rural economy.

The Northern Foods Rural Action Award is one of the Business in the Community Awards for Excellence.
Northern Foods buys 80% of its raw materials from the UK, therefore we have a responsibility to ensure rural communities thrive. Our customers are increasingly interested in the provenance of their food, and the role of high quality local producers is increasingly important.
We are proud to sponsor an award which recognises the rich contribution that rural communities can make to Britain's economy, and which celebrates some of the outstanding initiatives within the business world which have helped Britain's rural communities prosper.

Northern Foods is piloting the Big Conversation. This project is targeted at improving the 'work experience' undertaken by students. The students will work on-site for 5 days across all departments, and from this can help decide which career they want to pursue. The students will feedback to the CEO of Northern Foods stating what went well and what can be improved.
